Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome patient handout project–completed!

The handout can be found here.

Over the past year, members of ISMP Canada and CSHP OB collaborated on developing a patient education handout on Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS). This working group also worked with members of Northwest Telepharmacy Solutions, Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA), Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI), Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA), and Patients for Patient Safety Canada (PFPSC). We are pleased to announce that this handout is now available on the ISMP Canada website at

CSHP members are invited to use and share this tool with their clinician colleagues in hospitals and other collaborative healthcare settings where patients may benefit from counseling on CHS prevention, treatment, and risk reduction. Institutions wishing to customize the handout with the addition of their logo can contact Alice Watt at ISMP Canada for more information.

You are also invited to provide feedback on your experience with using the handout through this survey:

We extend our appreciation to Alice Watt – project lead and ISMP Canada Medication Safety Specialist, and to all working group members and partners for making this project possible. Any questions regarding this project can be directed to Alice Watt or Vivian Lee, CSHP OB Delegate.
