Health Canada COVID-19 Treatment Drug List

Health Canada is proactively monitoring the potential for supply disruptions for prescription drugs used in the treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients and has compiled a list of approved drugs that may see an increase in demand during the COVID pandemic.

This is not meant to represent clinical advice but rather to assist other federal, provincial and territorial government departments engaged in supply management, such as the forecasting of shortages and management of inventories.

The list was developed with the support of various Health Canada officials with medical and scientific expertise, and is informed by key international recommendations (e.g., World Health Organization interim guidance), the FDA ICU list and information from the Provinces and Territories.

It only considers the use of drugs per their approved indications and does not include investigational drugs. Given the evolving nature of the situation, the list an evergreen document that will inform proactive work to minimise the potential impact of shortages.
