In 2018, Nancy retired from her role as Executive Director – Primary Health Care with the New Brunswick Department of Health. Looking back on Nancy’s career and impact, her colleagues describe her in the warmest terms: Lauza Saulnier, Regional Director, Quality and Patient Safety Services at Horizon Health and one of Nancy’s nominators for this honour, calls Nancy “a multi-talented person who possesses an authentic zest for living,” “an optimist,” and “a visionary.”
These qualities have brought Nancy an impactful and rewarding career. She previously held the positions of Executive Director – Program Integration and Performance with the New Brunswick Department of Health; Vice President Planning, Quality and Performance Excellence with the Horizon Health Network; and Vice President of Planning and Professional Services for the South-East Regional Health Authority. Prior to her positions in health care administration, Nancy was a practicing pharmacist at the Moncton Hospital and served as Director of Pharmacy Services.
Nancy has brought her characteristic expertise and leadership to numerous boards and committees, guiding her teams to innovate in areas such as e-health and patient safety. Along with many other board positions, Nancy served as the chair of the New Brunswick Chapter of the Canadian College of Healthcare Leaders (CCHL), and she is currently a Director on the Board of the CCHL. At the provincial level, she has served on the New Brunswick Premier’s Health Quality Council and the New Brunswick Primary Health Care Advisory Committee.
CSHP has been lucky enough to benefit from Nancy’s leadership for many decades. In addition to contributing to numerous committees and task forces, Nancy has served as the Strategic Planning Committee Chair, and as the Canadian Hospital Pharmacy Residency Board Chair. She has served as president of the New Brunswick Branch and as CSHP national president. “Nancy has given so much to our community,” says Jody Ciufo, CEO of CSHP. “We’re delighted that as Nancy thrives in her retirement and enjoys spending time with her loved ones, she’ll continue to be an active and valued member of CSHP – for life!”
