Call for poster abstracts: Professional Practice Conference 2026

November 18, 2025

CSHP invites poster abstract submissions for the Professional Practice Conference (PPC) 2026, taking place April 30 to May 2, 2026, in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Poster presentations are a cornerstone of PPC, offering an opportunity to showcase innovative research, practice initiatives, and quality improvement projects from across Canada. At last year’s conference in Ottawa, over 50 posters highlighted cutting-edge work in hospital pharmacy — and we look forward to building on that momentum in 2026!

The deadline for abstract submissions is January 14, 2026, at 16:00 ET.

Steps in Abstract Submission Process:

  • Submission: Abstracts must be submitted by January 14, 2026, at 4 pm ET.
  • Formatting review: Abstracts not meeting the style criteria will not be accepted.
  • Peer Review: Submissions will undergo peer review and be accepted or declined based on reviewer feedback.
  • Acceptance: Authors will be informed of decisions by March 3, 2026.
  • Registration: All submitting authors must register for PPC 2026. Poster presenters must be registered by March 31, 2026.
  • Poster PDF Submission: Accepted posters must be submitted as PDFs for the virtual platform by April 7, 2026.

Share your work. Inspire your peers. Advance healthcare-systems pharmacy practice.

Poster Abstract Guidelines – Professional Practice Conference 2026

Please carefully review the instructions below; only abstracts that meet these requirements for formatting and submission will be considered for review.

Category

Authors must select the category that best fits their abstract. Submissions will be reviewed according to the chosen category:

  • Original Research: Includes pharmaceutical/basic science, clinical research, drug use evaluations, systematic reviews (with or without meta-analysis), pharmacoeconomic analyses, etc.
  • Pharmacy Practice: Includes administration projects, health professional education, medication safety initiatives, and other practice-based initiatives.
  • Case Reports

Abstract Style Requirements

Abstracts that do not adhere to the following rules will be rejected.

Title

  • Must be brief and clearly indicate the focus of the presentation.
  • Use title-style capitalization (capitalize the first letter of major words only; do not capitalize prepositions unless first in the title).
  • Do not use abbreviations or include a period at the end.
  • Use numerals rather than writing out numbers.

Authors

  • List only authors who contributed to the preparation of the abstract and will appear in the publication in the Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy.
  • List as Last name + initials (e.g., “Lee K, Patel L, Smith J”) under the title, using superscript numbers linked to affiliations.
  • List affiliations below authors, identifying departments/faculties first, followed by the institution, city, and two-letter provincial abbreviation.
  • For authors with multiple affiliations, separate superscript numbers with commas (no spaces).
  • For international affiliations, include the country name.
  • Do not include degrees, titles, or appointments.
  • Underline the presenting author’s name.

Body and headings

Organize the body of the abstract using the exact headings outlined below for the selected category. Use bold for paragraph headings, add a colon after paragraph headings, and capitalize the second word in a two-word heading, such as “Literature Review”. Please note that studies with multiple outcomes must be presented in the same poster. Do not report individual outcomes from the same study data in separate posters.

  • Original Research:

    • Literature Review: Briefly summarize existing, relevant literature relating to or surrounding the case
    • Importance to Practitioners: Briefly describe implications/importance of the case report to pharmacy professionals
  • Pharmacy Practice:

  • Results or evaluation must be included in the abstract. Abstracts that state ‘results will be discussed’ will be rejected.
